I did several speed tests with speedometer, comparing Brave with Firefox, without extensions or the Brave ad shield. Brave won by quite a difference, and in terms of security according to privacytests it is the safest. But it is true that there are times that I notice Firefox faster than Brave and vice versa.

How good is Brave in terms of security and privacy?

For security, Brave's very good, and is ahead of Firefox, due to Chromium's very strong sandboxing. The only browsers I'm aware of that are more secure than Brave would be like GrapheneOS' Vanadium, or Microsoft Edge, but both of those have clear downsides. (Vanadium missing content blocking and fingerprinting protection, only being available on GrapheneOS, etc, and Edge being a privacy disaster).

Librewolf vs Brave - I tested them so you don't have to.

Brave managed to hide WebGL fingerprint and audiocontext fingerprint, while Librewolf couldn't. Librewolf managed to hide time zone and useragent, while Brave couldn't. In Browser Leaks, on canvas section, both browsers seem to have a randomized fingerprint. Although it is fingerprintable, it changes on a page reload or a browser reload.
