Called the ‘BMW Personal Pilot L3’, BMW will in March 2024 start offering offer Level 3 autonomy as a €6,000 (AU $10,000) option for the 7 series – but only for customers in Germany. BMW claim that with L3 activated, drivers will have the ability to concentrate on secondary in-vehicle activities, away from what is happening on the road.
BMW's system is known as Personal Pilot L3, and it launches in the 7-Series flagship sedannext March, though only in Germany initially, where adding it will cost 6,000 euros (approximately $6,400).
As a result, each car can maneuver itself through the assembly and finishing process regardless of its particular tech options. A BMW official said that the system offered "significant” improvement in the plant’s logistics efficiency and helped optimize the manufacturing process overall.
